Why do zip files download as nothing

There are not one but many reasons due to which a Zip archive gets corrupt or damaged, some of the most common reasons include Virus or Malware infection to the ZIP file, improper or incomplete download, Presence of bad sectors where ZIP files are placed, power failure or improper system termination while transferring an important ZIP archive etc.  · Download the file to your local computer. Bring the file up in Windows Explorer. Right-click on it. Choose Extract All. The system will tell you where it is going to send the file and you can change that to where you want to send it. Click the Extract button to fully unzip the file for use. You may also use a free utility such as 7-Zip to unzip.  · Incomplete Downloaded ZIP File: Inappropriate proxy settings, network glitches etc. causes incomplete download of Zip files. Even though the browser doesn’t prompt you anything regarding partial or incomplete download of the ZIP file, comparing the size of the original ZIP (in the source) with the one you have downloaded perhaps clears this.

There is just nothing in the zip file to be extracted, yet the file itself will be very large (i.e., mb). I have not even extracted anything for it to be quarantined. I don't know why I have so many issues with this computer every couple of weeks. Now out of nowhere I can't download zip files, anytime I click a zip link it just opens to a blank page instead of automatically downloading. I've had to have people email me zips and it's getting annoying and confusing. Some browsers are configured to download a zip file and expand the zip into a folder of files while other browsers leave the "zip" uncompressed. Given a zip file, uncompress the file, by clicking on it, through a file menu, or tool such as Winzip on Windows and unzip on a Mac. A zip can contain many types of files.

Chrome and most Chromium-based browsers display a notification in the download panel when a download is blocked because it is offered via HTTP. Users of the browser may discard the download or select the arrow-icon to select keep. Selecting keep saves the file to the download directory of the browser. Additional information.
